In 2008, Heike and Jens Meyer opened Brot Bakehouse School and Kitchen, a school focused on all natural baking and food education, right in Fairfax, VT. Their love of nature can be tasted through the wholesome ingredients they use in the kitchen and can be seen in the yard where they have a ground mounted solar array, which they installed for the environmental benefits!
The Meyers learned about Green Mountain Solar from one of their neighbors who worked with us to install their solar (and hopefully got that referral bonus). It was super important for the Meyers to find a friendly, honest and competent team to work with, and hey, we checked all the boxes!Since their business heavily relies on electric refrigerators, freezers and ovens, it was crucial for the Meyers to have a way to keep their electricity on even during power outages. So, they invested in four batteries and joined the Green Mountain Power "Bring Your Own Device" program. Through this program, GMP pays customers in exchange for a fixed percentage of the energy stored in their batteries.
Thanks to their energy storage systems, the Meyers never have to worry about losing electricity while Heike is busy baking, teaching a class or keeping perishable food items in the fridge or freezer!
The Meyers encourage others to make the switch to solar, not only for environmental reasons, but also because you can save on electricity bills.
Be sure to check out Brot Bakehouse School and Kitchen to taste delicious goodies baked with the power of sunlight!
